Acceptance & Compassion - tips to delve deeper

I have come to understand that acceptance and compassion have layers or levels. Depths of understanding, thought and action. We are all unique and different, just like these ducks above. Cute aren't they, from Lake Guthridge, Gippsland Australia. When we see suffering around us we feel for those people. If we can identify directly from our own experiences with their pain and suffering this can create a connection between us.Sometimes no words are even exchanged. Often we observe from a distance, not sure of what to say or do.  We relate their suffering with ours, what we know of it.Unspoken. We just send our loving thoughts and compassion their way.  However we are still the focus.Taking the focus off ourselves and how the suffering of another impacts us, we can begin to see the truth or reality of the situation - and thus have greater compassion and acceptance for that person in that situation.Through regular quiet reflection and observation we can make the leap from observing, to relating to understanding another’s suffering through deep acceptance and compassion for them at that time, in that situation. The focus stays on them. What a gift you can give to another, un-wavering compassion & acceptance.Delve Deeper into the depths of compassion and acceptance by creating the below positive habits:

  1. Daily selfless act - commit to do one thing to help another with no regard to being thanked or rewarded

  2. Practice non-judgment and non-criticism - can we hold our tongue?..... then practice holding the unkind thoughts in mid- stream.

  3. Accept & have compassion for your own weaknesses/limitations - you are perfect as you are, start to understand and believe this and watch your world change.
